For the time being, I’m going to finish the GT as originally planned and put it into “daily” service. However, I do need to lose a car, and the SD1 should probably go. I wanted to drive one for awhile, and can definitely see the appeal, but the GT is more my speed. The Rover has been in daily service all winter and has proven itself to be a very nice machine. (I can never get over the tight turning circle for a relatively large car…I think you could put my Ford truck on full lock and easily drive the Rover around inside the circling Ford without any danger of hitting it.)
A friend is interested in the SD1, but frankly I cannot see him selling his current car to fund the purchase in any sort of reasonable time frame…there is always a chance, I guess. I’ll give him a couple of weeks, but if you’re interested, drop me a line. The car is running well. Its two biggest faults are the fact it leaks oil like a sieve, and the exhaust really needs to be routed all the way to the back of the car. It’s not loud at all, so I was considering just taking a pipe out to behind the right rear wheel, skipping the rear muffler.
There is an extra dash and a couple of boxes of semi-useful spares. With the rub strips removed and fresh paint it would look great. I personally would try to find tires with slightly higher sidewalls, old cars always look a little bit wrong on modern rubber…but the tires are newish, so that would be a long ways down the line.
I’ll give ya $13 for it.

Sounds like a winnah and you never know when you might need a spare dashboard in a emergency situation. SD1 dashboards were known for catastrophic failure at speeds in excess of 160 kph. If all else fails you can flog it at the ABFM to someone with a SD1 Jones and make another enemy for life.
I see we’re both selling our oddball sedans. If your deal falls through, wanna trade for a Lancia Beta sedan? I’m only half-kidding…
