As you might have come to expect as a faithful reader of this blog, I had to try again after messing up my first attempt at the license plate panel. What you see above is the sorta-finished second item.
Let’s just say that wrapping steel around a wire is pretty difficult with hand tools, especially when there’s some close and “sharp” bends in the mix. It’s easy to see the appeal of “rat rods”, matte primer covers a multitude of sins!
I will probably fit an extra pair of LED brake lights on either side of the plate. The standard rear lights are, um, less than adequate and while this panel is low, hopefully something bright will attract some attention.
Anyway, once the primer is dry, I’ll fit it to the car and move on to…the fenders? I will need to spend a chunk of change to do so, and chunks are in short supply at the moment!
