Crayon & Parts Gathering

I’ve been blasting and painting those parts I didn’t prepare a decade ago, and sending off large orders to the various specialists, while I wait for the fasteners to come back from the platers. Above you can see my replica of the crayon body-number scrawled onto the body when the car was new. It’s pretty close to the original in appearance; I may have finally found my calling.

The ’64 MGB Project is Gone

Thankfully! My friend Gabe took the car off my hands in trade for some of his professional time, for what precisely is yet to be determined. I have more than enough projects to keep me busy, and would never have got to this one.

Bring a Trailer Lotus Elan +2S

My friend Paul is selling his restored Lotus Elan +2 via a Bring a Trailer exclusive. It looks and runs great and drives very well–almost all the Lotus cars I’ve driven have been Paul’s, and they’ve all been very nice. E-Type Painted

1961 Jaguar E-Type - Just Painted

Mark Jones of Britsport just sent me a few photos of what happened in the paint booth today. Car will sit for a couple of weeks in the booth, and then it shows up here for the big mechanical pieces to go in, and then back for color sanding and polishing before exterior trim and interior.

New Year’s MGB

[flickr id=”6616863057″ thumbnail=”original” overlay=”false” size=”original” group=”” align=”none”]Happy 2012 from all of us (well, OK, me) at Rusty Heaps! I had to run to the store and as it wasn’t raining, I got out Reg the MGB today. The MG hadn’t been out in a few months and it was a blast to drive it again. It feels faster than the XJ6 (it’s almost certainly not) and is a lot more involving to drive.
